Job Summary:

 

The Restorative Nurse Aid will provide direct care to residents under the supervision of a licensed nurse in accordance with facility policies and procedures, as assigned. Provide specific restorative measures and exercises as per the required training and per the individual resident plan of care under the direction of the Licensed Nurse and Therapist.

Looking for experienced full-time Restorative Aid/CNA for our short-term Skilled Nursing unit.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assists with walkers, canes, and other assistive devices
  • Assists residents with bed positioning
  • Assists in teaching proper body mechanics and alignment to staff and families as needed
  • Assists residents with range of motion and strength training exercises (active and passive)
  • Communicates and documents services provided and any condition changes
  • Assists resident with dressing / grooming
  • Assists residents with applicable post-operative care as ordered within the scope of practice.
  • Assists resident with amputation and prosthesis care
  • Assists with eating, feeding and swallowing exercises
  • Applies and monitors splinting as ordered
  • Maintains proper documentation of records regarding patient care that is reviewed routinely by DON and or Therapy Director
  • Assists with exercises to develop patient cognitive and communication skills
  • Performs other duties as assigned within scope of practice
  • Follow the guidelines and restorative plan of care established by the nursing/therapy team for assigned residents
  • Observes proper safety skills and outlined resident specific precautions at all times
  • Be informed of the resident’s diagnosis as indicated for restorative treatment and the necessary indication and contraindications of same
  • Perform repetitive exercises such as mat exercises selected, and range of motion as ordered within scope of practice and training
  • Assists residents with transfers and walking to build endurance and regain skills as directed
  • Assist residents to regain skills forself-care, communication and mobility for optimal independence with Activities of Daily Living
  • Assist residents with bowel and or bladder retraining to include documentation as required
  • Monitor residents’ response, complaints, concerns and motivation to restorative treatments and efforts and report as directed
  • Perform documentation on all required forms and records including the restorative treatments, resident tolerance, progress, teaching and problems identified
  • Assemble, prepare, and clean equipment to be used for therapy services
  • Monitor equipment to determine that it is in safe and good working order
  • Demonstrates an understanding of compliance and ethics program policies and procedures
  • Completes all mandatory compliance, HIPAA and state and federal regulatory training as required
  • Maintains appropriate degree of confidentiality
  • Performs other duties as assigned and which relate to the success of Kisco and the Care,
  • Comfort, and Happiness of our residents

Education/Experience/Training:

High school graduate or GED required. Minimum one year of CNA experience. Experience working in a

senior environment preferred. Must complete all required training required and obtain designated

certification to include Restorative Nursing Assistant Certificate.
