Under supervision of the Payroll Supervisor, the Payroll Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of the company’s payroll. In addition, they will maintain the integrity of the payroll system and process at Kisco. They will develop and monitor all tasks necessary to accomplish efficient and accurate payroll processing objectives, including relationships with Home Office and Community HR liaison as well as auditors and vendors.
Essential Job Functions:
- Payroll processing of multi-state bi-weekly payroll of 2000 + employees
- Process payroll transactions for new hires, terminations, employee changes, time-sheets and wage garnishments and ensure compliance with tax jurisdictions and policy
- Display knowledge of appropriate tax laws, payroll deductions and tax rates
- Respond to employee and internal teams when there are payroll inquiries including and not limited to employee verifications, pay details, vacation accruals, tax withholdings, etc. in a timely manner
- Perform research when necessary to ensure compliance with changes in regulations
- Perform payroll analysis and reconciliations as required
- Insures proper use of payroll procedures and processes
- Performs ad hoc duties and tasks as assigned or required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of federal and state wage and tax laws, FLSA and overtime requirements
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Able to work well across multiple departments (Operations, Human Resources, Accounting, etc.)
- Meets deadlines, prioritizes assignments, and multitasks in a fast-paced environment
- Self-motivated, flexible, deadline-oriented and able to complete tasks with limited supervision
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Education/Experience/Training:
- Minimum 5 years of multi-state payroll processing experience with high volume
- Experience with ADP WFN & WFM
- FPC or CPP a plus
