Job Description

The Vice President of Operations position is responsible for improving the performance of Kisco communities through the effective implementation of high quality operations programs, processes, policies and procedures. This position will supervise and lead a team of Home Office subject matter experts in care services, dining, environmental services and/or resident relations. 

What will I do every day?

  • Recruits, develops, motivates and retains world-class Executive Directors and assists with the
    recruitment, development, motivation, and retention of quality Community Management Team
    members
  • Conducts assessments of current state and works collaboratively with the community,
    operations team and other home office teams to deploy and improve processes and programs
  • Ensures implementation of high quality design and documentation of operational programs,
    processes, policies and procedures for Kisco communities
    o Care Services, for all levels of living (Independent, Assisted, Memory care, Skilled
    Nursing, Home care)
    o Dining Services, including creating and implanting a framework for a consistent Kisco
    dining experience, menu planning, signature recipes, etc.
    o Wellness Services, including Kisco’s focus on the six dimensions of wellness and
    programming for all residents and associates
    o Resident Relations, including front desk systems and customer service models
    o Environmental Services, Housekeeping and Laundry operations
  • Responsible for quality assurance standards and processes for all operations areas and ensures
    that standards are being meet or exceeded
  • Responsible for driving the company to achieve and surpass sales, profitability and business
    goals.
  • Drives results using Kisco’s measurements and data analysis, including the scorecard, leading indicators, and other key metrics as identified
  • Supports Executive Directors in achieving targets for: NOI growth, resident satisfaction, associate engagement and operations programs
  • Supports Executive Directors in their role as sales leaders and ensures that Executive Directors are accountable for revenue growth
  • Supports the development and implementation of operating strategies by evaluating trends and critical measurements for productivity, quality, and resident satisfaction.
  • Supports Executive Directors with the preparation and execution of the annual operating budgets and assist with financial performance analysis
  • Responsible for conducting the assigned Executive Director annual performance appraisals and supporting them in their development plans. Will train and coach Executive Directors using Kisco’s Managing 4 Results process
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned or required
  • Responsible for the direct supervision of between 4-7 community Executive Directors. Responsible for the direct supervision of assigned Home Office subject matter experts in the following roles: Care Services, Dining Services, Environmental Services (including housekeeping and laundry services) and Group Purchasing. Direct supervision of these areas may change over time, rotating between other Operations Team Leaders.
  • Responsible for the design, documentation and implementation of all Kisco operational programs, processes, policies and procedures. Uses judgment in all daily activities. Has discretion to make broadranging business decisions in a team environment. Has P&L and budget responsibility.

What will I need to be successful in this role?

  • Four-year college degree required.
  • Must have five years’ experience with management and supervision
  • Leading results-driven teams in a service industry, preferably with senior living or hospitality environment. Proven experience in the design of programs, processes, policies and procedures that drive results and customer (resident) satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Executive Director or General Manager required and multi-facility management experience a plus.
  • Acute business acumen required. Strong background in project and financial management.
  • Ability to work effectively and diplomatically with a variety of stakeholders, including residents, associates, community groups, government agencies, etc. Understands and values thinking and acting systemically to ensure operation initiatives are sustainable.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of current trends and developments in the senior living industry.
  • Understanding of laws, regulations, and rules governing work requirements.
  • Proficient in general office software applications, particularly the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze and implement solutions to resolve challenges that are hindering continued growth.
  • Communicates effectively in both written and verbal form.
  • Excellent design and documentation skills: process, project, program, policy, systems, and more
  • Highly team oriented – ability to work effortlessly in a matrix environment
  • Ability to influence without direct control.
  • Creative ability to take a vision and translate into programs that can be deployed.

Working Conditions:


Must be able to work a flexible schedule. Extensive travel is required for this position. The position is based in Raleigh, North Carolina. Candidates must either reside in Raleigh or be willing to relocate there to be considered.
