Job Description

As the Lead Cook you’ll bring your culinary expertise, leadership, and dependability to our Back-of-House (BOH) team. Our ideal candidate shows up on time, in uniform, with a positive, solutions-focused mindset. You’ll work closely with our Sous Chef and Executive Chef to ensure our kitchen runs smoothly and our residents enjoy the highest quality meals.

 

Schedule: Full-time, Weekends & Holidays Required 

Pay: $22/$23hr

 

What will I need to be successful in this role?

  • Kitchen Supervision: Oversee line cooks and kitchen staff during service, assigning tasks and creating a positive, well-coordinated work environment.
  • Food Preparation & Quality: Prepare and cook menu items, sauces, and proteins to recipe standards, ensuring consistency, taste, and presentation.
  • Team Support: Mentor and train cooks and new team members; step in to assist or coach when food is being prepared incorrectly.
  • Communication: Proactively communicate with team and chefs about kitchen needs, swiftly find solutions to challenges, and never shift blame.
  • Accountability: Work with Sous Chef to ensure the team meets all standards, holds self and others to high performance, and helps foster a culture of responsibility.
  • Safety & Sanitation: Uphold food safety, hygiene, and kitchen cleanliness at all times, including accurate temperature checks and proper storage.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, rotate stock, and eventually assist with ordering and menu development.

 

Special Requirements/Certifications I may need?

  • Experience: 3+ years as a line cook or in a similar kitchen environment (senior living or healthcare preferred, but not required).
  • Culinary Skills: Strong knife skills, recipe knowledge, and experience using various kitchen equipment.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to train, lead, and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-Solver: Can calmly address challenges and resolve them without blaming others.
  • Certifications: Valid Food Safety/Sanitation certificate required.
  • Dependable Communicator: Arrives on time, takes initiative, and communicates clearly with both BOH and FOH staff.
